Welcome to the library.

The Library of Shannon implements a Markov process to construct a near-infinite library of books whose content is randomly generated in a way that approximates natural written English. It is a spin on Jorge Luis Borges' novella 'The Library of Babel'. It is inspired by Jonathan Basile's virtual rendition of the library and Claude Shannon's book 'The Mathematical Theory of Communication'. You are free to select any book from the library (referenced by number), the number of words to read, and the order of approximation to use. Due to the deterministic nature of generation, any given book and order of approximation will always generate the same text. More information about how it works and what is meant by 'Markov process' and 'order of approximation' can be found here.
